Rakul Preet Singh recently opened up about one of the most memorable moments from the early days of her career, meeting her favourite actor Ranveer Singh for the very first time. In a candid interview, the actress recalled how she was completely starstruck during the encounter. Rakul Preet Singh is garnering widespread appreciation for her standout performance as Nilofar in her recent release Pati Patni Aur Woh Do.
Recalling the incident, Rakul shared how she had admired Ranveer Singh ever since watching Band Baaja Baaraat and was determined to meet him during an award function before her own film debut. “I am a huge Ranveer Singh fan. So I had watched Band Bajaa and Band Baja had come a little before Yariyaa. Toh hamlog kisi award function me the and hamlog perform
kar rahe the the entire cast and backstage was Ranveer and I had never met Ranveer. And of course jabtak apka debut nahi hota film abhi release hone wali hai so I’ve never got starstruck besides I got to know Ranveer is hosting and Ranveer is there and everyone knew he is my favourite, I have told everyone that I have to meet Ranveer today I have to get a picture with him. And we were standing backstage and suddenly there is a hand that comes from behind and he is like “Rakul?” and I was like ya ya ya.. and then I went to the vanity van and jumped and I was like omg I met Ranveer. And of course later I have told him about this and we have joked about it but that was my first and I think that my only star-stuck moment,” she added.
Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar
The actor has been basking under the success of his film Dhurandhar 2. The sequel brings back the world of Dhurandhar and also stars Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal and Sanjay Dutt. The Dhurandhar franchise has grown into one of the biggest action properties in Indian cinema, with Ranveer Singh and director Aditya Dhar creating a massive fan-following around the spy-action universe. The first film was a major theatrical success, but Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge pushed the franchise into a league of its own at the global box office. According to reports, the sequel earned more than Rs 1,700 crore worldwide during its theatrical run, emerging as Ranveer Singh’s highest-grossing film till date and one of the biggest Indian blockbusters ever. The movie also outperformed the lifetime collections of several recent pan-India hits across key international markets, further cementing the franchise’s box office dominance.
Pati Patani Aur Who Do
The actress is currently seen in Pati Patni Aur Woh Do. Despite the Sunday growth, trade circles are still closely watching the film’s performance because of its reported production cost. Several reports claim the film has been mounted on a budget of around Rs 60-65 crore, although the makers have not officially confirmed the figures. Because of that, the opening weekend numbers are being viewed as moderate rather than exceptional.
The franchise itself has an interesting history. While the latest film follows the 2019 version, the original roots of Pati Patni Aur Woh go back to the 1978 classic starring Sanjeev Kumar.
Meanwhile, reviews for the new film have been mixed. CNN-News 18 Showsha gave the film 3.5 stars in its review, which read, “At 1 hour and 57 minutes, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is a like a ride at a local fare – nothing too snazzy and expensive but still fun, for the most part. And then there are the histrionics. This is a film that thrives on excess – excess pandemonium, excess coincidences, excess screaming, excess melodrama and, at times, excess confidence in its own absurdity.”
