ICICI Bank has announced a set of changes that will affect how its credit cards work. These updates cover reward points, offers, and some transaction-related charges. While not every card is impacted,
users of select ICICI Bank credit cards should review the changes carefully.
The new rules will come into effect from January 15, this year. Cardholders may notice differences in how rewards are earned, how certain benefits are unlocked, and what fees apply to specific transactions going forward.
Reward Points Rules Remain The Same For Select Cards
Holders of the ICICI Bank Emeralde Metal Credit Card will continue to earn 6 reward points for every Rs 200 spent on retail purchases. However, this reward earning does not apply to spending on fuel, government services, rent, property management, tax payments, or third-party wallet transactions.
These exclusions remain unchanged, so cardholders should keep them in mind while planning their spending.
BookMyShow Benefits Now Depend On Spending
To use the BookMyShow offer on select ICICI credit cards, users must meet a minimum spending requirement. Cardholders need to spend at least Rs 25,000 in the previous quarter to qualify.
For example, if you want to use the benefit between April and June 2026, you must spend Rs 25,000 between December 26, 2025 and March 25, 2026. This eligibility check will be done every quarter.
Add-On Cards Will Now Come With A Fee
ICICI Bank has introduced a one-time fee of Rs 3,500 for new add-on cards issued on or after January 15, 2026. This applies to ICICI Bank Emeralde Metal Credit Card holders who request additional cards for family members.
Foreign Currency Conversion Charges Have Been Revised
The dynamic currency conversion fee will vary by card type. Times Black ICICI Bank Credit Card users will be charged 1.49 per cent. Emeralde Metal, Emeralde, and Emeralde Private cardholders will face a 2 per cent fee.
MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank Travel Credit Card users will pay 0.99 per cent, while Amazon Pay ICICI Bank Credit Card users will be charged 1.99 per cent. All other ICICI credit cards will attract a 3.50 per cent fee.
New Charges Apply To Gaming And Wallet Transactions
A 2 per cent transaction fee will be charged on payments made on gaming platforms such as Dream11, Rummy Culture, Junglee Games, and MPL.
In addition, loading Rs 5,000 or more into third-party wallets like Amazon Pay, Paytm, MobiKwik, Freecharge, and OlaMoney will now attract a 1 per cent fee.
Cash Payment Charges At Branches Have Increased
The fee for paying credit card bills in cash at ICICI Bank branches has been raised. Cardholders will now be charged Rs 150 per transaction, up from the earlier Rs 100.
