Chennai police were put on alert on Tuesday after a bomb threat was reported at actor Ajith Kumar’s residence in Injambakkam. The call, made by an unidentified person, prompted an immediate response from authorities, who carried out an extensive search at the property along East Coast Road.
Upon receiving the alert, a bomb disposal squad was deployed to the actor’s residence, according to reports. Officers cordoned off the area and conducted a detailed inspection of the premises and its surroundings. After several hours of search operations, police confirmed that no explosives were found and officially declared the threat a hoax.
This incident follows a series of false bomb alerts targeting high-profile figures in Tamil Nadu. Recently, actor Arun
Vijay’s residence in Ekkattuthangal was the subject of a similar email threat sent to the DGP’s office. A bomb squad was dispatched, but the search yielded no explosive materials.
In October, veteran composer Ilaiyaraaja’s T Nagar studio was also targeted in a fake bomb scare. Over the past few months, celebrities including Rajinikanth, Dhanush, Vijay, Trisha, and Nayanthara have reportedly received similar threats, raising concerns about the increasing frequency of such incidents.
Officials noted that several key government and public locations in Chennai have also faced hoax bomb alerts in recent months. The list includes the Chief Minister’s residence, the Opposition leader’s home, the Governor’s Mansion, and major railway stations. Police have intensified efforts to trace the origins of these recurring threats and are working to identify those responsible.
Ajith Kumar, a leading star in Tamil cinema, has been in the spotlight for his recent projects Vidaamuyarchi and Good Bad Ugly. In 2025, the actor took a brief hiatus from film commitments to focus on his passion for racing.
