Tim David lit up the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday night with a sensational knock against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). It rained sixes and fours as Devdutt Padikkal, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar, and Australia’s Tim David toyed with the CSK attack.
Following Padikkal’s second consecutive fifty in IPL 2026, David and Patidar stitched together a 99-run stand for the fourth wicket. In the penultimate over of the RCB innings, David swivelled on a short ball from Jamie Overton and launched it over deep square leg for a massive six. The ball soared over the Chinnaswamy roof and landed on the road outside the stadium.
David first mimicked the umpire’s six signal, raising both hands, before cheekily waving ‘bye-bye’
to the ball.
While RCB fans inside the stadium erupted in celebration, those gathered outside joined in the frenzy, retrieving the ball and celebrating the moment. A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media, capturing a group of RCB supporters finding the ball and cherishing the rare souvenir.

Together, they took RCB to 250/3, the highest IPL total against CSK.
In reply, CSK endured another batting collapse, folding for 207 in 19.4 overs to slump to their third successive defeat of the season. Their chase was effectively derailed early after Sanju Samson, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ayush Mhatre were dismissed with just 30 runs on the board.
Jacob Duffy struck crucial blows in the powerplay, removing both Samson and Gaikwad, with Devdutt Padikkal taking sharp catches at first slip. Samson’s struggles with the bat continued, as he fell cheaply attempting an awkward steer. Mhatre’s dismissal also marked a milestone for Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who claimed his 200th IPL wicket.
Sarfaraz Khan provided some resistance with a brisk 25-ball fifty, but the steep target proved too much. Krunal Pandya and Bhuvneshwar then combined to break a promising stand, removing Prashant Veer and sealing CSK’s fate, as the contest fizzled out without much fight.
