Surya Charishma Tamiri clinched the women’s singles national champion on Sunday in the final of the 87th edition of the event in Vijayawada with her victory Tanvi Patri.
Surya rallied from a set down to register a 17-21, 21-12, 21-14 win over teenager Patri to get her hands on the title on familiar territory.

Earlier in the day, Rithvik Sanjeevi became the men’s singles national champion on Sunday by defeating Bharat Raghav. Sanjeevi secured a 21-16, 22-20 victory over Raghav, overcoming tense moments in the second game by saving a game point to win in straight games.
Young shuttlers Sathwik Reddy Kanapuram and Radhika Sharma triumphed
over World Number 46-ranked Ashith Surya and Amrutha Prathamesh in the mixed doubles final. Meanwhile, former national champions Ashwini Bhatt and Shikha Gautam easily defeated the second-seeded Priya Konjengbam and Shruti Mishra.
Kanapuram and Sharma gained an early advantage with a 21-9 win against Surya and Prathamesh before securing the victory in the second game.

Hariharan Amsakarunan and Ruban Rethinasabapathi defeated the duo of Mithileish P Krishnan and Prejan to win the men’s doubles title at the event in Andhra Pradesh.
