In the second episode of India’s Got Latent 2, Samay Raina was taken aback when a policeman named Kapil Dinkar arrived to perform his songs. As Kapil walked towards the stage, Samay joked, “Sir voh pichla seasons that”. The cop also took a dig at the comedian and added, “Phir se shuru kar diya yeh, pichli baar chain nahi pada bandh karwake?”
Samay, unaware that Kapil is a real cop, told him that he cannot wear the uniform like this. However, Kapil then revealed that he is a constable, serving in Uttar Pradesh police. “I can’t believe police wale aa gaye perform karne yaar,” Samay remarked. The comedian then walked up to him and even offered him a cup of tea.
After Kapil Dinkar’s performance, panelists Kiku Sharda and Haarsh Limbachiyaa praise
his act. To this, Samay joked, “Jis jispe FIR hai sab tareef kar rahe hai.” The comedian further expressed excitement and stated that it is “so cool” to have a cop on the show. “Police bhi dekhti hai,” he said, to which, Haarsh replied, “police hi toh dekhti hai.”
Kapil then revealed that he is a Uttar Pradesh Police constable, selected in 2021 and currently posted in Meerut. He shared that it was his mother’s dream to see him as a cop and added that singing has always been his passion. “Main department ka iklauta banda hoon jisko music karne ki permission hai,” he said.
India’s Got Latent Controversy
Last year, Samay Raina was embroiled in controversy after YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia posed an offensive question to a contestant on an episode of India’s Got Latent season one. “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?” he had asked. Though the panel, including Apoorva Mukhija and Ashish Chanchlani, laughed off the comment, it triggered massive backlash online and led to multiple FIRs against Ranveer and the show’s makers. The controversy escalated when the National Commission for Women (NCW) stepped in. Multiple FIRs were also filed against Samay Raina. India’s Got Latent was also taken down from YouTube.
