ISRO Vikram 1 Rocket Launch Live Updates: India’s space journey is set to create history as Hyderabad-based Skyroot’s Vikram-1 gears up for an orbital mission, marking a milestone not just for the company but for the entire nation that seeks to become only the third country in the world with a private company capable of launching a rocket into orbit.

Named after the father of India’s space programme, Vikram Sarabhai, the Vikram-1 is all set for a launch from the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) launch facility in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

The seven-storey rocket will be headed for the Low Earth Orbit which is 450 km away. If everything goes according to the plan, India will emerge as only the third country –– after the United States

and China –– with a private player capable of orbital launches.

‘Cab Service To Space’

According to Skyroot, it aims to offer what it calls a “cab service to space” –– as simple as it should be –– where companies are capable of hiring a rocket “to ride to a unique location in the orbit to place a satellite or visit a space station“.

The Vikram-1 is the next step in the company’s ambitions after the successful Vikram-S suborbital mission in November 2022. That launch –– named Operation ‘Prarambh’ ––redefined India’s capabilities in launching rockets and gaining a firsthand access to the space.
