With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, brands across India are stepping up their marketing game. While people are gearing up to celebrate the day of love, brands are keeping busy promoting the perfect gifts. From chocolates to flowers and last-minute surprises, companies are leaving no stone unturned to position themselves as the go-to solution for shopping for the occasion.
One ad campaign that has caught the attention of social media users has been released by the quick-commerce company Blinkit. A video showcasing the Valentine’s Day promotion was captured inside the Delhi metro and later shared by a woman, who ultimately said, “Ye single logon ke jale pe kaise namak chirak rahe hai (How they are rubbing salt into the wounds of single people).”
Blinkit Ad Asks Passengers To Buy Gifts For Their Beloved
The clip recorded by the woman showed the advertisement stuck inside the metro coach. She began the video by zooming into it and saying, “Ye dekh rahe ho metro ka promotion (Do you see this promotion)?” She then read out the message on the ad, which said, “Yatriyon se anurodh hai ki apne babu ke liye gifts mangwa lein (Passengers are requested to order gifts for their beloved). Get gifts for your Valentine,” was written on the poster, which also featured some pink hearts.
Woman Says Blinkit Is Rubbing Salt On Their Wounds
Reacting to the ad, she joked that the promotion felt like “rubbing salt on the wounds” of single people. “Ye Blinkit walon ne dekho guys ye single logon ke kaise jale pe namak chirak rahe hai, ye metro ka haal hai guys,” the woman shared. She posted the clip with the popular Mohabbatein’s song, Aakhein Khuli, as the background sound and also wrote, “Bhai mangwa lo apni apni GF ke liye gift.”

FYI, every year, Valentine’s week begins on February 7 with Rose Day. Then couples celebrate Propose Day, Chocolate Day, Promise Day, Teddy Day, Hug Day, and Kiss Day, before marking Valentine’s Day on February 14. Considered one of the most romantic times of the year, Valentine’s week is a time when people express affection, exchange gifts, and celebrate love with partners, friends, and family.
