Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor-turned-politician Vijay visited actor Ajith Kumar’s residence in Chennai on Saturday to offer condolences following the death of Ajith’s mother, Mohini Mani. Vijay was accompanied by actress Trisha Krishnan during the visit, with video clips showing the actress arriving alongside him and paying her respects to the bereaved family. Videos from outside the residence showed Vijay arriving amid tight security, flanked by his security personnel as he made his way into Ajith’s home.
As he stepped out of the vehicle, Vijay warmly hugged Ajith before spending time with the family. Trisha, dressed in a black traditional salwar suit, was also seen accompanying him and offering condolences.
The visit drew attention given
Vijay and Ajith’s long-standing association in the Tamil film industry. Before Vijay’s transition into politics, the two stars shared a cordial relationship that stretched back to the early days of their careers. They even starred together in the 1995 film Rajavin Parvaiyile, which remains the only film to feature both actors on screen. Over the years, despite fans often projecting a rivalry between them, both stars have publicly maintained mutual respect and camaraderie. Earlier this month, reports also stated that Ajith personally called Vijay to congratulate him on his Tamil Nadu election win.

Trisha, too, shares a long professional association with Ajith Kumar. She has also shared screen space with Ajith in films including Ji, Yennai Arindhaal and the recent Vidaamuyarchi. Their off-screen friendship has often been visible through social media interactions and behind-the-scenes moments from film shoots.
Ajith’s family confirmed the passing of Mohini Mani on May 30. In a statement shared by family member Anil Kumar, they revealed that she passed away peacefully in her sleep after a period of declining health.
The statement read, “Our mother, Mohini Mani, passed away early this morning, in her sleep, after a period of declining health. She was 89. We are grateful for the care and support provided to her and our family by a number of medical professionals these last few years.”
The family has requested privacy during this difficult time and stated that the last rites will be conducted privately.
