Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt are likely to reunite following their successful collaboration in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (RRKPK). According to a recent media report, Alia Bhatt is being considered for the female lead in Ranveer Singh’s upcoming film Pralay, directed by Jai Mehta. Nothing has been made official by the makers till now.
Mid-Day quoted sources saying that director Jai Mehta’s first pick for the female lead is Alia Bhatt. “The female lead is central to the narrative. She isn’t introduced as a love interest. She challenges the hero’s ideas in a collapsing world. Who could wield that power better than Bhatt? She brings credibility. In a film this experimental, you need powerhouses and actors the audience’s trust,” a source said.
“The world (Pralay) is harsh, resources are scarce, and every character is pushed to moral breaking points. This is not a glossy zombie film,” the source added.
Pralay To Mark Ranveer Singh’s Foray Into Zombie Cinema
According to a report by Mid-Day, Pralay is expected to go on floors between July and August 2026. The film will be directed by Jai Mehta, son of acclaimed filmmaker Hansal Mehta, and marks Jai’s feature film directorial debut after co-directing the widely celebrated series Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story. The film is said to explore survival in a collapsing world, using the zombie genre as a metaphor for social, emotional, and moral breakdown.
Sources reveal that Pralay will reimagine Mumbai in a devastated, near-unrecognisable form, drawing visual inspiration from The Hunger Games. The makers reportedly plan to combine large-scale physical sets with AI-driven digital extensions to age and abandon sections of the city.
“Large portions of Mumbai will be digitally aged to reflect decay and abandonment,” a source shared, adding that filming will begin in the city before moving to other locations.
What’s next for Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt
Apart from Pralay, Ranveer Singh also has Dhurandhar 2 – Revenge lined up, which is slated for a theatrical release on March 19, 2026. The sequel is set to clash with Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups at the box office.
With a zombie thriller, a major franchise sequel, and a post-Dhurandhar high, Ranveer Singh appears poised for one of the most genre-diverse phases of his career.
Alia will be soon be seen in Love and War. According to recent reports, the makers are planning to unveil the first glimpse of the film in January 2026. If a recent report by Bollywood Hungama is to be believed, Love and War is ‘running behind’, due to which its release is likely to get delayed. Reportedly, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has asked the lead actors to block dates until summer 2026 to complete the project. Besides this film, Alia is also gearing up for the release of Alpha and Ranbir will be seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana as Lord Ram.
