Popular YouTuber Ajey Nagar, better known as CarryMinati, has used his massive online reach to support a humanitarian cause. During an eight-hour charity livestream on his gaming channel, CarryisLive, the creator helped raise more than Rs 13 lakh for Assam flood relief, with viewers across the country contributing to the campaign.
CarryMinati also made a personal donation of Rs 2.3 lakh, while British YouTuber KSI added Rs 2.5 lakh to the fundraiser. The money will be used to support relief efforts for families affected by the devastating floods in Assam.
Who Is CarryMinati?
Ajey Nagar is India’s biggest independent YouTube creator and one of the country’s most recognisable internet personalities. He first shot to fame through his comedy roast
videos before expanding into gaming and livestreaming with his second channel, CarryisLive. CarryMinati’s main YouTube channel has more than 46 million subscribers, while CarryisLive has over 12.5 million subscribers, making him one of the world’s most-followed gaming streamers. Over the years, he has built a loyal fanbase through comedy, gaming content and live interactions with viewers.
Thousands Join Charity Stream
The livestream, held on July 28, saw thousands of viewers tune in and donate throughout the broadcast. Along with contributions from fans, CarryMinati and KSI boosted the total collection with their own donations.
The campaign eventually crossed the Rs 13 lakh mark, with the funds set to be channelled towards relief efforts for flood-hit families.
Assam Floods Continue to Affect Lakhs
The fundraiser comes as Assam continues to battle one of its worst flood spells this year. According to official figures, around 4.45 lakh people remain affected across six districts even though floodwaters have started receding in some areas. The floods have damaged homes, roads and farmland, while thousands of people continue to stay in relief camps. Rescue and rehabilitation efforts remain underway across the affected districts.
Not CarryMinati’s First Relief Campaign
This is far from the first time CarryMinati has stepped in during a crisis. Over the years, he has organised fundraising drives for victims of the Assam, Bihar and Kerala floods, the Odisha train accident, the Pulwama attack, Cyclone Fani, the Australian bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic.
