Tim David Questions Usman Tariq's Action Following Controversial Dismissal | Watch

Star Australian cricketer Tim David was seen questioning Pakistan’s Usman Tariq’s bowling action yet again after he was dismissed by the latter during the ongoing Hundred, as Tariq keeps being questioned for his unusual action.

David, representing Trent Rockets against Birmingham Phoenix, edged a fuller ball outside off stump through to the wicketkeeper. After his dismissal, he appeared to question the umpire, suggesting the ball should have been called a no-ball over concerns about Tariq’s bowling action.

David also signalled for a review before deciding against it. The umpire didn’t uphold the appeal and he walked off.

As per MCC Law 21.2, a ball is considered fair as long as the ball isn’t thrown. The law states that after the bowler’s arm reaches

shoulder height during the ball swing, the elbow must not be partially or completely straightened before the ball is released.

The striker’s-end umpire is responsible for determining whether a ball is fair, although the bowler’s-end umpire also has the authority to call a no-ball if they believe the ball has been thrown.

David appeared to suggest that Tariq’s bowling action didn’t comply with the laws and that the ball should have been called a no-ball. The latter’s action has been under scrutiny for some time.

During the 2024 Pakistan Super League, on-field umpires Asif Yaqoob and Richard Illingworth reported Tariq for a suspect bowling action to the match referee. His action came under scrutiny again during the 2025 PSL, when it was once more reported by the on-field umpires.

Earlier this year, Australia all-rounder Cameron Green also appeared to question Tariq’s bowling action during the second T20I against Pakistan. After being dismissed by the spinner, Green mimicked a baseball-style throwing motion, in reference to Tariq’s action.
