Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay is currently focused on his political responsibilities, but his final film before stepping away from acting continues to make headlines. Jana Nayagan, billed as the actor-turned-politician’s swansong, was originally scheduled to release in January 2026. However, the release was postponed after the makers faced delays in obtaining certification, pushing the much-awaited film’s theatrical debut. Now, the latest reports suggest that the film could finally release on July 24.

The release of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s long-delayed film Jana Nayagan has once again become the subject of speculation after a Canada-based distributor hinted at a possible theatrical release on July 24. The buzz follows reports that

the film has finally cleared the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) process and is now awaiting the issuance of its censor certificate. Canada-based distributor York Cinemas on July 8 shared a post on X, sparking excitement among fans.

The post read, “Finally! Our Own Thalapathy Vijay is ready to set the big screen on fire with #JanaNayagan. Canada Release by York Cinemas. Igniting screens from July 24. Get ready for the ultimate theatrical celebration. Stay tuned for tickets.”

Meanwhile, the reports also suggest that the makers have complied with all the changes recommended by the CBFC, bringing the certification process to its final stage. The censor certificate is reportedly expected to be issued by Friday, after which the makers are anticipated to reveal the film’s official release date. The report also stated that overseas distributors have been asked to gear up for a theatrical release on July 24. While July 24 is said to be the most likely release date, another report suggests the film could arrive in cinemas a day earlier, on July 23, depending on the makers’ distribution plans. However, KVN Productions has not yet made any official announcement regarding the release date.
