New Delhi, Oct 23 (PTI) Tata Motors Ltd on Friday posted a net profit of Rs 1,254 crore for the September quarter of the current fiscal, led by strong revenue growth.
The company’s revenue from operations for the period under review rose 36 per cent year-on-year to Rs 25,338 crore from Rs 18,585 crore in the year-ago period, driven by robust volume growth.
The automaker, formerly known as TML Commercial Vehicles Ltd, had reported a net loss of Rs 867 crore in Q2 FY26, following mark-to-market losses of Rs 2,026 crore on account of investment in Tata Capital, according to an exchange filing.
“Q2 FY27 marked another strong quarter in our journey of consistent, profitable growth. Wholesale volumes grew 42 per cent, with broad-based growth across segments,
reflecting healthy underlying demand and disciplined execution,” Tata Motors Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Girish Wagh said.
Total sales during the quarter rose to 1.35 lakh units from 94,681 units in the year-ago period. Domestic sales grew 30.9 per cent YoY to 1.14 lakh units with strong growth in the small commercial vehicle cargo and pickup segment as well as in the heavy trucks category. International business more than doubled to 21,132 units from 7,620 units a year ago.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (Ebitda) for the period rose 31 per cent YoY to around Rs 2,800 crore, while Ebitda margin declined by 40 basis points to 10.9 per cent.
“Despite significant commodity cost pressures, particularly in steel and rubber, we maintained margins sequentially through rigorous cost management, operating efficiencies and calibrated pricing actions,” Chief Finance Officer GV Ramanan said.
Meanwhile, Tata Motors noted that the tender offer for Iveco Group’s outstanding common shares, launched in September, remains open for acceptance until October 26.
Tata Motors recently increased the takeover offer price for the Italian truck maker by 0.30 euro per share to 14.40 euro per share, citing a delay in the authorisation process.
“On the Iveco transaction, we are progressing steadily towards completion, within the indicated timeline of end October. As we prepare for consolidation from next quarter, our priorities are clear: seamless integration, unlocking strategic opportunities and creating sustained value for the long term,” Ramanan added.
