Next-Generation GST or ‘GST Bachat Utsav’, the new structure seeks to simplify compliance and boost household consumption. Finance Minister Sitharaman has said that the reform will inject Rs 2 lakh crore into the economy by increasing consumers’ disposable income.

The GST Council on September 3 approved India’s major indirect tax overhaul, dubbed GST 2.0, which came into effect on September 22. The new regime brings a simplified two-rate structure, lower levies on a wide range of products, and measures to ease compliance. Everyday essentials such as soaps, hair oil, and shampoos, along with items like two-wheelers and cars, have become cheaper.
