Veteran Actor Sudesh Kumar Passes Away, At 95, After Suffering Brain Stroke

Veteran actor Sudesh Kumar, known for his role in the romantic film Saranga, has passed away at the age of 95. As per reports, the veteran actor suffered a brain stroke, following which he was admitted to the hospital, and on May 1, he breathed his last at Breach Candy Hospital.

The actor, as per NDTV, reportedly suffered a brain stroke two weeks before his demise. He was taken to the hospital on April 20, where he remained admitted till April 30. Following initial treatment, he was taken back home last week, where an ICU setup was arranged to take care of him.

Sudesh is survived by his wife, Jaya, and his daughter, Mishika. Sudesh was born on March 17, 1931, and had recently celebrated his 95th birthday. The prayer meet of the veteran actor will

be held tomorrow, on May 4, 2026, from 4 PM onwards at FPH Banquets Hall.

Born on March 17, 1931, Sudesh Kumar initially pursued a science degree from Elphinstone College, as his father hoped he would become a doctor. However, his passion for acting led him towards the entertainment industry. He began his artistic journey with Prithviraj Kapoor’s celebrated theatre group.

The actor rose to fame with the romantic tragedy Saranga, where he played the lead role. Over the years, he went on to feature in several films and became a known face in Indian cinema.

This news comes as a shock and has surfaced very recently, while the country is still mourning the demise of legendary singer Asha Bhosle, who too reportedly passed away at Breach Candy Hospital at the age of 92.
