Khushbu Sundar Defends Wedding Post Amid Backlash After K Bhagyaraj's Death: 'I Have The Right To Be Happy'

Actress and politician Khushbu Sundar has reacted to trolling over sharing a wedding picture from her daughter Avantika Sundar’s wedding just hours after the death of veteran actor-director K Bhagyaraj. Hitting back at a social media user, Khushbu said she had every right to celebrate her daughter’s special day while also mourning the loss of a close friend.

Avantika Sundar married in a star-studded ceremony in Goa on Thursday evening. K Bhagyaraj attended the wedding, making it his final public appearance before he died of a cardiac arrest in Chennai on June 27.

Khushbu Sundar responds to criticism

After the wedding, Khushbu shared a candid photograph with her husband on social media. While many congratulated the family, some questioned why she

was posting happy moments so soon after Bhagyaraj’s death. Reacting to one such comment, Khushbu wrote, “@deepapprriyajayyaprakashh why follow me then?? Only to criticize?? My daughter got married not even 48hours before. And who knows Poornima better? You or me?? If you find it difficult, stop following me. I am better off without people like you. I have all the right to be happy.”

Khushbu pays tribute to K Bhagyaraj

As she defended her decision, Khushbu also remembered Bhagyaraj with an emotional tribute on Instagram. Sharing a photograph of the filmmaker, she wrote, “Rest in peace Sir. My funny moments with you will remain etched in my memory forever. I will miss you.”
Bhagyaraj’s death came as a shock to the Tamil film industry. The veteran filmmaker, actor and writer died in Chennai following a cardiac arrest.

Tamil Nadu announces state honours

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph announced that K Bhagyaraj would be accorded full state honours in recognition of his contribution to cinema. Bhagyaraj is survived by his wife, former actress Poornima Bhagyaraj, daughter Saranya and son, actor Shanthanu Bhagyaraj. The veteran filmmaker’s final public appearance was at Avantika Sundar’s wedding in Goa, where he attended the celebrations alongside several members of the film industry.
