Over 1,200 signages across Meerut range to assist Kanwar Yatra pilgrims

Meerut (UP), Jul 21 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Police will install over 1,200 signages across the Meerut range during the Kanwar Yatra to help pilgrims and improve traffic management, a senior police officer said on Tuesday.

The signages will provide information on Kanwar routes, parking areas, medical centres, police assistance booths, drinking water facilities, toilets, traffic diversions and other essential services, enabling pilgrims and motorists to navigate the routes with ease, police said.

There will be 1,242 signages at 476 locations across the Meerut range, which covers Meerut, Baghpat, Bulandshahr, Ghaziabad, Hapur and Gautam Buddha Nagar districts.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (Meerut Range) Kalanidhi Naithani said the signages are part

of a comprehensive plan to ensure the safe, smooth and well-organised conduct of the annual pilgrimage.

He said 325 signages will be installed at 135 locations in Meerut district, 288 at 131 locations in Bulandshahr, 425 at 100 locations in Baghpat and 204 at 110 locations in Hapur.

The DIG said the signages will also guide devotees to alternate routes, emergency services and police assistance centres, helping improve safety and minimise traffic disruptions during the pilgrimage.

The Meerut Range Police appealed to pilgrims and the general public to follow the directions displayed on the signages and comply with traffic and safety advisories issued by the police and district administration.

Police said ensuring the safe, secure and orderly conduct of the Kanwar Yatra remains its top priority.

The Kanwar Yatra is scheduled to begin on July 30, the first day of the Hindu month of Sawan, and conclude on August 11 on Sawan Shivratri. PTI CORR ABN SKY SKY
