Sanju to CSK?
It has been reported by Cricbuzz that Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals are in discussions for a trade deal involving Sanju Samson.
As per the available information, Rajasthan Royals are ready to trade Samson with five-time champions CSK ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, but in exchange they want legendary Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and South African batter Dewald Brevis.
Jadeja, who has played in the first couple of seasons of IPL for Rajasthan Royals, has been associated with CSK since 2012 and was even retained by the Chennai-based franchise for Rs 18 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, whereas Brevis joined CSK in IPL 2025 as a replacement for uncapped Indian pacer Gurjapneet Singh.
“Both Jadeja and Samson are Rs 18 crore players, and the deal could well have been sealed by now. However, it is understood that Rajasthan Royals are not yet agreeable to a straight swap. The franchise is believed to be insisting on the inclusion of another player, which could eventually prove to be the sticking point,” the report read.
“The deal-breaker over the CSK-RR deal, it is understood, is the latter’s demand for Dewald Brevis, who came into the CSK ranks midway last season. Since then, the South African has gone on to become one of the top batters in the global franchise circuit,” the report added.
As per the available information, CSK are not interested in including another player in the trade deal apart from Jadeja, who was retained for the same amount of money RR paid to secure Samson’s services ahead of the mega auction last year.
