Actress Anupama Parameswaran has opened up at length about a past relationship, describing the experience as a period of “narcissistic abuse.” Although she chose not to reveal her former partner’s identity, her comments sparked speculation online, with some social media users linking the story to her Bison Kaalamaadan co-star Dhruv Vikram. In a recent interview, the actress spoke about how deeply the relationship affected her, revealing that it eventually took a serious toll on her physical and emotional well-being.
In the newly released second part of her conversation with Dhanya Varma, Anupama explained that the relationship never really settled into a healthy or stable phase. Instead, she said it was marked by a constant cycle of intense highs
followed by equally extreme lows. She said, “There were times when this person would say, ‘Let’s end this,’ and two days later he would say, ‘I can’t live without you, baby!’ Then there would be a patch-up. When all this abuse was happening, I was going through my own battles in my life. When you are going through extreme anxiety, it affects you physically. Panic attacks, anxiety attacks, yes, blackouts, I was losing a lot of weight… I had none of this; I was a happy and normal child. My right eye even started twitching, and we had to stop shooting… it was such a condition. Some conversation would happen, and I would throw up, and I would not eat anything. I lost so much weight. I was crying every single night for hours and hours, and I would have to get up and go for a shoot. All of a sudden my lacrimal gland, it got swollen and I had to get surgery done… There was a lot more.”
Anupama said the relationship left her with physical and mental wounds that she feels may never fully heal. She described it as being trapped in a “spider web” of gaslighting and manipulation, making it difficult for her to walk away. She recalled eventually recognising the pattern, noticing inconsistencies in her partner’s words, confronting them about their lies and, over time, realising that she was repeatedly being made to feel like she was the problem.
She recalled that the pattern continued until she came across something she found deeply disturbing, which eventually triggered a major confrontation. She said both families became involved, causing the “bubble” surrounding the relationship to finally burst. Anupama added that, even after the fallout, she had to threaten the person before he would agree to speak to her. The actress added, “Because they never take accountability for anything they do. I had a conversation, and in the last 10 seconds, when I saw him, I could see the mask peeling off, and I could see the demon.”
Anupama has not revealed the identity of the person she was referring to, having first spoken about her breakup on social media in July. Meanwhile, dating rumours surrounding her and Dhruv Vikram surfaced in early 2025 after an unverified photo allegedly showing the two kissing circulated online. Fans claimed the picture had been used as the display image for a Spotify playlist the two reportedly shared.
