For context, the varmala ceremony is a key Hindu wedding ritual where the bride and groom

place flower garlands around each other’s necks. The act symbolises mutual acceptance and marks the beginning of the wedding ceremonies, usually followed by the pheras.

Varmala Ceremony Like Never Before

This time, though, the task of delivering the garlands was handed to two young children. It seems they were completely unfamiliar with Indian wedding customs. Much like ring bearers at Christian weddings, the kids were expected to hand over garlands to the couple. Instead, they did what felt logical to them. Taking things a notch higher, the kids placed the garlands around the couple’s necks as the two watched on.

The timing couldn’t have been better or worse. Just seconds later, flower petals came raining down, perfectly synced to the moment, completing the ritual.
