While several celebrities have reacted to these claims in the past, veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty has now shared his thoughts as well.
Mithun Chakraborty supports Dhurandhar 2
In a recent interaction with IANS,
the senior actor-politician reflected on his 2025 film The Bengal Files, which was not allowed to release, adding that if his project faced such a situation, then Dhurandhar 2 should not have been permitted to release either. He further pointed out that the “propaganda” allegations surfaced only after the film’s release. He told the agency, “The Bengal Files ko release hone nahi diya, isse badi kya baat karenge? Ab Dhurandhar ko bhi propaganda kehte, toh Dhurandhar ko bhi rok lete na? Dhurandhar release hui, aur ab aap kehte ho ki propaganda hai. Lekin The Bengal Files ka release tak nahi hone diya. Uske against mein jaake, film ko release tak hone nahi diya Bengal mein. Isse badi dukh ki baat kya ho sakti hai?”

Kolkata, West Bengal: On the film Dhurandhar 2, BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty says, "You did not allow Bengal Files to be released here. What bigger issue will you talk about than this? Yet, you are calling Dhurandhar propaganda. Then why didn’t you stop… pic.twitter.com/00OgfJ8y8L
He also added that The Bengal Files was based on the Noakhali riots, a historical event that took place before Independence, yet the film was still not allowed to be released. Further defending the Aditya Dhar directorial, Mithun Chakraborty said, “Toh dadagiri, jo bolna hai boliye, lekin Dhurandhar ne saare records tod diye. Itne logon ne picture dekhi hogi tab na. Har sampraday ke logon ne dekhi hai, tareef ki hai, aur do-teen baar dekhne ke baad hi picture ka yeh business hota hai.”
