Hollywood icon Jamie Lee Curtis reflected on working with Macaulay Culkin
and Anna Chlumsky in the 1991 hit film My Girl. During an interview, the star was seen cherishing her time with the child actors while they were working together in the film.The 67-year-old actress looked back on her 47-year-long career during a conversation with Entertainment Tonight and remembered her days filming My Girl.

When Curtis was shown old footage from the making of My Girl, the icon replied, “Oh, so sweet,” adding, “From the first day, I said to them (Culkin and Chlumsky), ‘Okay, look, I swear a lot. $5 for every time I say the s-word. I’ve lost a lot of money already.” During the making of My Girl, both
Culkin and Chlumsky were 11 years old. “This is emotional for me because they were so young,” Curtis said after watching the old footage. “I loved My Girl. That was another beautiful, unexpected, beautiful little bit of work and a wonderful character that I got to play.” Reflecting on Culkin and Chlumsky’s roles, Curtis stated, “Watching young actors do an adult’s job, it’s very challenging. It’s hard for me. It’s hard to wrestle with that.” She continued, “I’ve played a lot of moms and worked with a lot of young actors, and Macaulay and Anna were so great.”
What Do We Know About My Girl
The coming-of-age romantic comedy tells the story of an 11-year-old girl (Anna Chlumsky) during the summer of 1972, who is a hypochondriac and is obsessed with death. Macaulay Culkin, on the other hand, played the role of her friend, Thomas, who died from an allergic reaction to bee stings. Dan Aykroyd played Chlumsky’s father, while Curtis played her father’s girlfriend.
The film was a major hit at the box office, making over $120 million. The film also received a sequel in 1994, where Chlumsky, Curtis and Aykroyd reprised their roles.
Reflecting on her role in My Girl, Chlumsky told PEOPLE in 2022, “We didn’t know how to put into words what we were doing back then. It took until I was in my 20s for me to realise it had such resonance.”
