Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna’s 2025 spy-action thriller Dhurandhar is setting new records with each passing day. The film has topped the Hindi box office in terms of earnings. But what if the stars of the 1980s had been part of Dhurandhar?
Whether or not the thought has crossed your mind, an AI-generated concept has captured the imagination of Bollywood fans.
AI Reimagines ‘Dhurandhar’ In 80s Bollywood Style
An AI artist has reworked the film in the style of 1980s Bollywood, creating visuals that have quickly become a talking point online.
The project was created by AI artist and short filmmaker Souvik Rooj, known on Instagram as Mr Hellrocker. On January 14, he shared a post presenting Dhurandhar as a high-octane action film from the 80s, blending intense storytelling with the rugged, no-nonsense
flavour of that era.
Amitabh Bachchan As Hamza Ali Mazari
The biggest highlight of this AI interpretation is Amitabh Bachchan as Hamza Ali Mazari, the character originally played by Ranveer Singh. In the AI image, Amitabh Bachchan appears with long hair, a beard, an olive-green outfit and a cigarette, instantly evoking memories of his Deewar and Shakti days.
Big B’s piercing gaze reflects the intensity and simmering anger that defined the iconic ‘angry young man’ of the 1980s.

Vinod Khanna As Rehman Dacoit
Opposite him, Vinod Khanna is cast as Rehman Dacoit, the role played by Akshaye Khanna in the original. Wearing a black Pathani suit, aviator sunglasses and a calm yet deadly expression, the digital portrayal brings back Vinod Khanna’s trademark swagger.
Parveen Babi also appears in the visuals as Rehman’s wife, Ulfat, recalling one of the most glamorous on-screen pairings of the decade.
A Full Ensemble Of 80s Icons
The AI artist extends this retro casting to the entire ensemble. Sridevi is shown as Yelina Jamali (Sara Arjun’s role), radiating innocence and inner strength in a white traditional outfit.
Jackie Shroff appears as Major Iqbal (Arjun Rampal’s character), with his ‘Jaggu Dada’ charm evident through a rugged beard and tinted glasses. Amrish Puri is imagined as SP Chaudhary Aslam (originally played by Sanjay Dutt), while Paresh Rawal steps into the role of Ajay Sanyal (R Madhavan’s character), effectively capturing bureaucratic tension.
In an interesting twist, Rishi Kapoor is cast as Uzair Balochis, the role played by Danish Pandor.
