Tensions flared up in the Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh after a three-year-old child was killed after being hit by a car under the Mursan police station limits.
Yash, a resident of the Madhaiya locality in Hathras, was reportedly playing outside his house when a speeding Ertiga car hit him, leaving him severely injured.
Soon after, the child was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to the wounds.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday afternoon, triggered widespread outrage in the region, with family members of the deceased child halting traffic on the Mathura-Bareilly highway and demanding perpetrators be brought to justice.
Several individuals joined the protest and pelted stones at the Mursan police station, injuring several police officers.
Following this, additional police forces were deployed and three persons involved in the protests were detained.
The police said that law and order in the region have now been fully restored.
Accused Arrested, Car Seized
Hathras Superintendent of Police Chiranjeev Nath Sinha stated the driver and conductor of the vehicle were arrested and the car was seized.

A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the law. Further investigation is underway into the matter, he added.
