Ravindra Jadeja played two Test matches for India in the recently concluded two-match series against the West Indies and picked up 8 wickets in addition to scoring 105 runs. For his superb all-round show,
he won the Player Of The Series award. But despite his good performance in the home series, Jadeja was not included in India’s ODI squad for the ongoing three-match series in Australia.
After being left out of India’s ODI squad, Jadeja is spending time with his family these days, and on Friday (October 17), he attended the oath-taking ceremony of his wife, Rivaba Jadeja, in Gandhinagar.
Rivaba is a member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, and on Friday, she was inducted into State Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s cabinet.
She took an oath as a minister of state, and when she was taking the oath, the reaction of her husband, Ravindra Jadeja, and their daughter caught everyone’s attention.
The clip of Jadeja smiling and clapping for his wife along with their daughter is going viral on the internet.

Why Jadeja was ignored?
Chief selector Ajit Agarkar announced India’s 15-member squad for the ODI series in Australia in Ahmedabad on October 4, and during the presser, he explained the reason behind not picking Jadeja in the squad.
Agarkar clarified that the omission is purely tactical — not a reflection on Jadeja’s form or future.
According to him, the management chose to go with one left-arm spin option, preferring Washington Sundar for his batting depth and Kuldeep Yadav for wrist-spin variety.
“Right now, we could only take one left-arm spinner for the Australia series. It wasn’t possible to fit in two. Ravindra Jadeja is absolutely in our plans — everyone knows how good he is and what he offers as an all-rounder and a fielder,” Agarkar stated in the press conference.
“But for this short series, we wanted to maintain balance with Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav in the squad.”
Agarkar emphasized that Jadeja remains central to India’s long-term plans, including the 2027 ODI World Cup, and that his absence is simply a result of the squad’s composition for this brief, three-match tour.
