Gorakhpur (UP), Jun 5 (PTI) A fire broke out at a medicine shop in the city’s well-known Bhalotia Market on Friday morning, triggering panic among traders and locals, officials said.
However, prompt action by the fire department helped douse the blaze within 20 minutes, preventing it from spreading to adjoining shops in the medicine market, officials said.
They said the incident occurred around 8:22 am on the first floor of the medicine market building in the Town Hall area.
Traders and residents alerted the fire department after noticing smoke rising from Vedika Traders, a pharmaceutical store located among a cluster of closely situated medicine shops, officials said.
Two fire tenders from Golghar Fire Station rushed to the spot, and firefighters
brought the fire under control quickly, officials said.
Officials suspect a short circuit triggered the fire, though the exact cause is yet to be confirmed.
Authorities reported no casualties or injuries, though goods inside the shop were damaged. PTI COR NAV ASD ASD
