A 32-year-old woman was killed after she fell from a moving bike and was run over by a goods vehicle in Bengaluru’s Hebbagodi on Wednesday, with locals blaming potholes and poor road conditions for the fatal accident, according to NDTV.
The victim, Medha, a native of Kerala, was travelling as a pillion rider with a friend when the accident occurred. She worked at a provident fund office in Bengaluru.
Preliminary information suggests that the two-wheeler lost control after a car ahead suddenly braked on a damaged stretch of road. Medha was thrown onto the road before a goods vehicle travelling behind ran over her, killing her on the spot.
Locals Protest Over Road Condition
Following the accident, residents blocked the road and protested, demanding immediate repairs. Locals alleged
that several roads around Electronic City and Ananthnagar are filled with potholes and have become dangerous for motorists.
“Every now and then they dig up the road here and don’t repair it,” a resident told NDTV.
Karnataka Minister Responds
Karnataka Minister Santosh Lad expressed condolences to Medha’s family but said a pothole should not be taken as proof that the state’s entire infrastructure is poor.

“I am saddened by it (the death), and my sympathies are with the family. There could definitely have been a pothole. But a pothole does not mean that the entire infrastructure is poor or that we have not spent money. We have spent a lot of money, and every year we provide the necessary justification,” he told reporters.
