Lucknow, May 31 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday appointed Rajeev Krishna as full-time Director General of Police (DGP), officials said.
Krishna, a 1991-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and a native of Gautam Buddha Nagar district, has been the acting DGP of the state since May 31 last year.
The order regarding the appointment of the DGP was issued by the Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Sanjay Prasad.
The state has not had a permanent DGP since Mukul Goel was removed from the post in May 2022.
The state has seen a series of acting DGPs, including DS Chauhan, RK Vishwakarma, Vijaya Kumar, Prashant Kumar and Krishna.
Krishna is a graduate in Electronics and Communication. He began his professional career in the state police as a trainee
IPS officer in Prayagraj, and subsequently served as Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Bareilly, Kanpur, and Aligarh.
He has also held the posts of Superintendent of Police (SP) and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in various districts, including Firozabad, Agra, Lucknow, and Mathura.
Krishna is scheduled to retire in June 2029. PTI ABN RT RT
