FA Cup holders Crystal Palace were ousted by unfancied sixth-tier Macclesfield on Sunday in the third round encounter between the sides at The Leasing.com Stadium as strikes from Paul Dawson and Isaac Buckley-Ricketts helped Macclesfield post a 2-1 win over Palace, who netted their consolation through Yeremi Pino.
With the triumph, Macclesfield became the first non-league team to eliminate the FA Cup holders in 117 years, after Wolves were knocked out by Palace in the year 1909.

Dawson put the Silkmen ahead two minutes before the referee could blow his whistle for half-time as the hosts held a slender lead heading into the break.
Buckley-Ricketts doubled the home team’s
lead on the stroke of the hour mark as Macclesfield extended their lead to two, before Pino pulled one back for Oliver Glasner and Co., who clinched the title with their win over Manchester City in the final of he previous edition, but it proved to be noting more than a consolation as underdogs picked up a famous win.
Elsewhere, Premier League outfit Aston Villa secured a 2-1 victory against Tottenham at Tottenham Stadium in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday, with Emiliano Buendia and Morgan Rogers scoring to outbid Wilson Odobert’s consolation for Thomas Frank’s side.
Chelsea secured a dominant 5-1 victory over Charlton Athletic on Sunday in their FA Cup third-round clash as Jorrel Hato, Tosun Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu, Pedro Neto, and Enzo Fernandez all contributed to Chelsea’s emphatic win, which marked the arrival of Liam Rosenior to the club.
Manchester City overwhelmed Exeter with a 10-1 victory at the Etihad in their third-round tie as Rico Lewis netted twice, while Max Alleyne, Rodri, Antoine Semenyo, Tijjani Reijnders, Nico O’Riley, and Ryan McAidoo also scored, with Exeter contributing two own goals.
With the win, City became the first English top-flight side to score 10 goals in a match since 1986 after Liverpool’s 10-0 win over Fulham 10-0 in the League Cup and the first in the FA Cup since Tottenham’s 13-2 win over Crewe in 1960.
