Ektaa Kapoor recently revealed the real reason why Kangana Ranaut will not be hosting the upcoming season of Lock Upp. The reality show, which is returning as Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa, will now be hosted by Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh, marking a major shift from its earlier format. The clarification came during the show’s launch event in Mumbai, where Ektaa Kapoor was joined by Riteish Deshmukh, Farah Khan, and Netflix India’s Vice President of Content Monika Shergill.

Speaking about the change in hosting and format, Ektaa explained that the new season has been completely reimagined, with a fresh creative approach that differs significantly from the original version. She said that the revamped concept no longer retains elements such as the earlier

“jailer-host” structure, and the overall design and presentation of the show have been rebuilt to suit a new vision.

“The entire format of the show, the whole vision changed and the demographic, the kind of jailer-judge format we had. Nothing of the original show has been kept. Neither the jailer nor the host, so keeping anything of the old would not bring the fresh presentation of the branding. So I am sure Kangana would have understood,” said Ektaa.

She also spoke about the show’s move to Netflix. “Over the years, I have created many television shows, but Lock Upp: Sach ya Sazaa occupies a space of its own. It strips away the filters and comforts, placing people in an environment where every decision, every relationship, and every secret has consequences. There’s nowhere to hide when you’re cut off from the outside world. This isn’t just another reality show; it’s a social experiment packed with entertainment, drama, and surprises at every turn. Bringing the show to Netflix opens up exciting new possibilities, allowing us to reimagine the experience on a much larger canvas,” she said.

The new season will reportedly feature 14 well-known personalities as contestants, who will be confined in a specially designed jail-like environment. Over six weeks, they will face tasks, eliminations, punishments, and shifting dynamics that test both strategy and endurance.

Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa is co-produced by Balaji Telefilms and Colosceum, with Malaya Pradhan serving as Executive Producer. The show, which first premiered in 2022 on ALTBalaji and MX Player, will now stream on Netflix starting June 27, airing from Saturday to Wednesday at 8 PM.

The first three confirmed contestants of Lock Upp 2 include actors Ram Kapoor ,Shivangi Joshi and Desi Bling fame Pamala Serena.
