A minor Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protester has alleged that her house was surrounded by people she described as “goons” and that stones and bricks were thrown at her home on Saturday night.
The allegation came hours after self-styled influcencer Swatantra Bhardwaj was arrested in connection with an alleged assault on the protester’s father during July 20’s Jantar Mantar protest.
The minor girl shared a series of videos on X, claiming that several unidentified people had been surrounding her house. She appealed to the Delhi and Ghaziabad police to provide security to her family.
“What if something happens to my parents? Who will be held responsible for that?” she said in one of the videos.
In another video, she alleged that stones and bricks were
thrown into the house. She also showed stones lying in the balcony and claimed that some had reached the gallery and kitchen.
The minor further alleged that she heard people outside saying they were right wing supporters. She also claimed that she heard sounds of people attempting to climb the house. A photograph of two to three people standing outside her house was also posted.
Earlier, the minor had alleged that Swatantra’s supporters sent her rape threats.
However, News18 does not verify the authenticity of the viral claims.
NSUI national president Vinod Jakhar visited the family’s residence after the videos surfaced. He questioned the police over what he described as a delay in taking strict action in the alleged assault case involving the activist’s father.
Jakhar alleged that the case gained momentum only after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi raised the issue. He also criticised what he described as political protection for Bhardwaj.
Meanwhile, the 21-year-old influencer was sent to one day of judicial custody in connection with an alleged assault the father of a Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protester during the July 20 protest at Jantar Mantar.
Bhardwaj was produced before the Duty Magistrate through video conferencing where he was sent to judicial custody. He was arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr on Friday, hours after members of the CJ protested outside the Parliament Street police station demanding his arrest.
The Delhi Police has added provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and criminal intimidation to the FIR. A case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has also been registered.
Bhardwaj was initially booked under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to causing simple hurt and wrongful restraint.
