The FIA-certified Formula 4 Indian Championship, which is part of the Indian Racing Festival, will conclude its season at the Madras International Circuit from December 13 to December 14.
After four rounds of competitive racing, the championship battle has narrowed down to three young drivers who have kept the competition alive until the final weekend.
Leading the points with 158 is Shane Chandaria, a 15-year-old Kenyan racer from Chennai Turbo Riders. He has demonstrated consistent performance throughout the year, combining raw speed with a composed racing strategy. His three wins, including a commendable drive at Kari last month, have positioned him well. However, given the tight gaps, nothing is certain yet.
French driver Sachel Rotge of Kichcha’s
Kings Bengaluru follows closely with 134 points. Familiar with the Madras track, he secured two wins here in Round 2 and another victory in Coimbatore, boosting his confidence for the finale, as mentioned in a release.
Indian racer Ishaan Madesh, representing Kolkata Royal Tigers, holds third place with 127 points and remains a strong contender. He has previously won in Chennai this season and has proven he can challenge both Shane and Sachel. With only a few points separating the top three, the championship is still open.
The midfield battles have also been a highlight of the season. Drivers like Sai Shiva Sankaran of Speed Demons Delhi, Ghazi Motlekar of Kolkata Royal Tigers, and Luviwe Sambudla of Goa Aces JA Racing have engaged in intense wheel-to-wheel racing and regular podium fights, keeping fans enthralled throughout each round.
The Madras International Circuit is recognised for testing driver precision and patience. Its fast corners and challenging braking zones reward clean, disciplined racing while penalising even minor mistakes. With the title at stake, every lap in Chennai will be crucial.
As the season approaches its final lights-out, fans can anticipate a close and pressure-packed weekend. The racing has been unpredictable all year, and the last round promises more of the same as India prepares to crown its next Formula 4 champion.
