Afghanistan delivered an all-round performance to defeat India B by 71 runs in the U-19 Tri-Series at the COE Ground on Wednesday, which also includes India A.
After being bowled out for 168 in 45.2 overs, with Naman Pushpak taking 4/45 in his 10 overs, Afghanistan U-19 rebounded strongly to secure their first victory in the competition and top the standings.
India B, having previously lost to the ‘A’ side, now sits at the bottom of the table with two consecutive defeats.
Ishan Sood impressed for India B with figures of 8-0-24-2, but a significant contribution of 58 (76 balls, 7x4s) from Afghanistan’s No. 3 Faisal Shinozada and Azizullah Maikhil’s 42 guided Afghanistan to 168.
In response, India B struggled despite opening batter Yuvraj Gohil’s
commendable knock of 60 (80 balls, 8x4s, 1x6s). All other India B batters failed to reach double digits, and the team was bowled out for just 97 in 29.3 overs, with Abdul Aziz taking 6/38 in his 10 overs. Salam Khan and Wahidullah Zadran each claimed two wickets.
