Bhubaneswar, Jun 25 (PTI) Odisha DGP Y B Khurania on Thursday directed all district SPs to ensure foolproof security arrangements with focus on identified sensitive places on the occasion of the Muharram festival being observed on June 26.
Khurania issued such a direction at a virtual meeting with all district SPs and told them to leave no stone unturned to ensure peace in the state during the observance of Muharram.
The DGP directed all police officers to intensify patrolling across every district and deploy additional forces at sensitive locations with proper briefing. He said that special security plans should be in place for identified vulnerable areas, drawing lessons from past incidents to ensure heightened vigilance.
The DGP also suggested
to the SPs to keep an eye on mischief mongers and monitor social media platforms in order to prevent misinformation campaign. Cyber patrolling should operate round the clock on social media platforms.
He also advised the SPs to take strict action against people found indulging in spreading rumours or provocative content.
The DGP also emphasised coordination with local peace committees and community leaders to foster mutual understanding and cooperation for smooth observance of the festival.
The virtual meeting was also attended by Additional DGP (Law & Order) Sanjay Kumar, DIG (Provisioning) Charan Singh Meena, along with all Range IG/DIGs and District SPs. PTI AAM AAM RG
