New Delhi, Sep 3 (PTI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet in a case against Earthcon Universal Infratech Pvt. Ltd. and its directors in connection with a housing project in Greater Noida.
This case is among 31 cases related to an alleged banker-builder nexus, in which thousands of homebuyers were cheated, being probed by the CBI.
In its chargesheet filed before a special CBI court here, the 19th in connection with the alleged nexus, the agency has alleged that the builder company and its directors allegedly induced homebuyers and investors through false assurances and fraudulent representations and obtained financial benefits through illegal and deceptive means, an official spokesperson said in a statement.
The investigation
allegedly uncovered “substantial evidence” and the accused have been charge-sheeted under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code, including criminal conspiracy, cheating and criminal breach of trust, the CBI spokesperson said.
The agency has registered cases on the directions of the Supreme Court against various builder companies and unidentified officials of financial institutions across the country in connection with the alleged nexus. PTI ABS DIV DIV
