Akeal Hosein's 12-Year-Old X Post Goes Viral, Chennai Super Kings React

Star West Indies left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein’s 12-year-old X post, saying that he would like to become a player like India allrounder Ravindra Jadeja, has gone viral on social media, after he was picked

up by the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2026 mini auction on Tuesday, a month after Jadeja’s departure to the Rajasthan Royals.

Hosein was bagged at his base price of Rs 2 crore by five-time champions CSK.

Hosein has picked 83 wickets in as many bowling innings in T20Is, at an economy of 7.24. In T20s, he has 237 wickets in 239 matches, also at an economy of seven.

Jadeja, who played for the Chennai Super Kings from 2012 to 2015 and again between 2018 and 2025, won three IPL titles with the franchise. He was traded to the Rajasthan Royals ahead of IPL 2026 for Rs 14 crore, with CSK now expected to turn to Hosein as his replacement.

Meanwhile, uncapped Indian players also drew big interest, with Uttar Pradesh’s 20-year-old left-arm spinner Prashant Veer and Rajasthan’s 19-year-old wicketkeeper-batter Kartik Sharma both snapped up by the Chennai Super Kings for Rs 14.2 crore each.

Cameron Green went past compatriot Mitchell Starc’s Rs 24.75 crore mark to become the most expensive overseas player in IPL auction history. The Aussie all-rounder attracted a fierce bidding war between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Chennai Super Kings, with KKR emerging victorious.

KKR also went after Venkatesh Iyer before pulling out of the race against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who got the India all-rounder for Rs 7 crore.
