Shimla, Jun 24 (PTI) Sports foster discipline, build self-confidence and promote a healthy spirit of competition among the participants, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said.
Presiding over the concluding ceremony of International Pro Boxing Championship at historic The Ridge here late on Tuesday evening, he said the event was organised in the memory of former chief minister Virbhadra Singh, a statement issued here on Wednesday said.
The former chief minister was a towering figure of the Congress and his contribution was immense in the development of Himachal Pradesh, he said.
CM Sukhu said the event would motivate budding players to excel in the field of sports.
He further said that these international events provide a unique
opportunity to athletes to witness international events, thereby enhancing their skills and exposure.
International boxers from Sri Lanka, India, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Thailand participated in the event. PTI BPL MNK MNK
