A 30-year-old Delhi judicial officer was found dead by suicide at his residence in south Delhi’s Green Park, with his family alleging that he was facing harassment and marital conflicts, police said.
The deceased, identified as Aman Kumar Sharma, was serving as secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in the North East district at Karkardooma courts.
Police said he was found hanging at his residence, and initial findings point to suicide. An inquest has been initiated to ascertain the circumstances leading to his death.
Family members have alleged that Sharma had been under mental stress due to disputes with his wife and in-laws. They claimed he was facing harassment, which may have contributed to his decision to take the extreme
step.
The father-in-law of the judge’s sister said, “I spoke to my son on the call, who told me that they are taking Aman to Safdarjung Hospital. By the time I reached the hospital, the doctor had already declared him dead. As per the statement given by his father to the Police, around 10 pm last night, Aman had called him saying that he was distressed and it had become difficult for him to continue living. His father departed from Alwar right then and reached here around 12 in the night.”
According to preliminary inputs, there had been ongoing tension between the couple. Investigators are examining these claims and recording statements from family members as part of the probe.
Meanwhile, cops said that all angles, including allegations of harassment and personal stress, are being looked into. No suicide note has been confirmed so far. The incident has once again brought focus on mental health concerns and domestic disputes as possible triggers in such cases.
