The legal troubles surrounding Rajpal Yadav took a serious turn following the Delhi High Court directing the actor to appear before jail authorities. ANI has reported that Rajpal Naurang Yadav was asked to surrender by February 4, but an update suggests that following the order, Rajpal later filed a plea to extend the deadline as he had to arrange a sum of Rs 50 lakh. However, the Delhi High Court rejected that plea.
On February 2, when Rajpal was also directed to surrender by Wednesday, Yadav’s counsel requested one more week to arrange the sum of ₹50 lakh. However, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma, as per HT, stated, “I rejected these submissions on that day itself and granted you two more days to surrender. I don’t think there is any ground. You
were to surrender on a particular day but you were granted two days because you said you were in Bombay. Today you have to surrender at 4 o’clock.”
Further, while commenting on Rajpal’s repeated failure to comply with the court’s order, it was noted, “This he has done at least 15-20 times in the past. His conduct has been mentioned in the last order. He has not complied with any order, any undertaking… I don’t think there is any ground for him for any leniency any more.”
The order follows repeated failures to honour settlement commitments in a long-running cheque-bounce case. The High Court noted that clear payment timelines were fixed on multiple occasions, but the actor failed to deposit amounts running into several crores of rupees. Even partial payments promised through demand drafts and instalment plans were not made within the stipulated time. As of now, neither Rajpal Yadav nor his legal team has issued a public statement on the latest order.
