Rishabh Pant taunted his critics, saying that he wants to let his bat do the talking, after leading Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to a five-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL on Sunday. Pant’s unbeaten 68 off 50 balls, which included nine fours, helped LSG chase down 157 with one ball to spare at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
Pant was under extreme pressure before the match. He has been short on runs since taking over LSG’s captaincy last year, but in 2026, the criticism was spilling into his captaincy credentials. said recognition within the dressing room mattered more than external opinions.
“I’m preparing well and want my bat to do the talking. My teammates and management see the work I put in, that’s what matters,”
he said at the post-match presentation.
On his form, Pant said his focus remained consistent. “When it ends well, everything feels good, but my focus has been on preparing well and giving my full commitment,” he said.
Pant termed the win important for the team’s confidence, especially given the tight finish. “Closing out games like this is a big positive for us,” he said.
He credited the bowlers for setting up the result after restricting SRH to a manageable total. “The bowlers deserve a lot of credit. They set things up for us, especially when you bowl first,” Pant said.
Among those he highlighted were Mohammed Shami, Avesh Khan and Manimaran Siddharth, adding that the unit executed plans well under pressure.
On the team’s approach, Pant said a balance between criticism and appreciation was necessary. “There’s never a perfect match. You have to be critical, but also appreciate what’s going right,” he said.
He added that the side remained focused on execution rather than individual effort. “The focus is on executing plans. Trust your preparation and play according to the situation,” Pant said, adding that the team aimed to improve with each match.
