Second Lady Usha Vance sparked a raging buzz on social media after she was spotted alongside First Lady Melania Trump at a military base without her wedding ring, earlier this week. The duo visited Camp Lejeune and Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) New River in North Carolina on November 19.
Notably, Vance’s marriage has been a topic of speculation ever since Vice President JD Vance publicly revealed that he would like for his Indian-origin wife to follow Christianity, as their children are being raised as Christians and that she often joins them at church, and also after Vance’s closely scrutinised hug with Erika Kirk, the wife of deceased political commentator Charlie Kirk.
The White House said Usha Vance and Melania Trump visited Camp Lejeune
and Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) New River, where they spent the day meeting with students, educators, military families and Service members from both installations. Several photographs from the event were shared on social media, showing Usha Vance without a ring on her hand.
This drew widespread attention on social media. “Interesting. Usha Vance minus a wedding ring yesterday at Camp Lejeune,” said Adam Parkhomenko, a political commentator. “So are the rumours about Bromance b/w JD & Erika Kirk true?” said another user.
Even the Democratic Party also commented on the matter on X. “Is JD sleeping on the couch?” they asked.

Is This A Big Deal?
The short answer? Nope! Usha Vance has been spotted plenty of times without her wedding ring, and no, that doesn’t mean the marriage alarm bells should start ringing. Sometimes a missing ring is just… a missing ring.
A spokeswoman for the second lady told USA Today that Usha Vance is “a mother of three young children, who does a lot of dishes, gives lots of baths, and forgets her ring sometimes.” JD and Usha Vance have three children: Ewan, 8, Vivek, 5, and Mirabel, 3.
The increased scrutiny over the Vances came after the Vice President said he would like his Indian-origin wife, Usha Vance, to follow Christianity, after which several Indian Americans accused him of being disrespectful towards Hinduism. Vance later said his wife had no plans to convert.
“Do I hope eventually that she is somehow moved by the same thing that I was moved by the church? Yeah, I honestly do wish that because I believe in the Christian gospel and I hope eventually my wife comes to see it the same way,” he said in response to a question by an Indian-origin woman at an event.
Furthermore, a viral clip showing JD Vance sharing an intimate hug with Erika Kirk, with her hand resting in his hair, sent social media into overdrive over a possible divorce. Netizens dissected the body language of Vance and Erika Kirk, noting the hand-in-hair gesture as a signal of intimacy.
