How Can Pakistan Qualify For Semifinals Of Women's Asia Cup 2026?

Pakistan women’s cricket team will face Hong Kong, China, in their third and final Group A match of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 on Monday (September 7). The final Group A match is scheduled to take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

The match against Hong Kong, China, who suffered a humiliating defeat by 137 runs against India in Dubai on Thursday (September 3), is a must-win for the Women in Green because a defeat on Monday could result in their exit from the tournament.

Like Hong Kong, China, Pakistan are also heading into Monday’s match after suffering a humiliating defeat against India. In the high-voltage clash between the two arch-rivals on Saturday, Pakistan could manage to score only 55 runs in 18.1 overs after opting to bat

first before suffering a seven-wicket defeat.

Pakistan are currently second in the Group A points table with two points from two matches. Thailand also have two points from three matches, but their net run rate (-2.050) is inferior to Pakistan’s (-0.569).

Hong Kong, China, meanwhile, are at the bottom of the points table with zero points from two matches and a net run rate of -3.575.

If Pakistan manage to beat Hong Kong, China, by any margin on Monday, they will finish second in the Group A points table and qualify for the semifinals along with India, who have six points from three matches.

However, if Pakistan lose by a big margin, Thailand or Hong Kong, China could overtake them in the points table and qualify for the semifinals. If the margin of defeat is small, Pakistan could still finish second despite losing, thanks to their superior net run rate compared to Thailand and Hong Kong, China.

If the match between Pakistan and Hong Kong, China, is washed out, Pakistan will qualify for the semifinals with three points from three matches.

If Pakistan qualify for the semifinals, they will face defending champions Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka became the first team from Group B to qualify for the semifinals on Sunday after securing a four-wicket win over Bangladesh.

India will feature in the first semifinal of Women’s Asia Cup 2026 on Thursday (September 10). The Women in Blue will face the winner of Tuesday’s match between Bangladesh and United Arab Emirates.
