Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur’s upcoming movie, Dacoit, has been postponed. On Wednesday, the makers of the film issued a statement and revealed that the film, which was supposed to hit theatres on March 19, will now be released on April 10. This means that the film will not clash at the box office with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 or Yash’s Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-Ups.
“The makers of Dacoit hold deep respect for both films and their creative teams, and strongly believe that every theatrical release deserves its own uninterrupted space with audiences,” a part of a statement by Dacoit’s team read.
“Dacoit reflects quiet confidence in its content and storytelling strength. Staying true to that belief, the decision to revisit the release timeline
stems from clarity and fairness, ensuring the film gets its rightful moment while allowing audiences to experience each film on its own terms,” it added.
Dacoit stars Adivi Sesh, Mrunal Thakur and Anurag Kashyap, and has been shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi. The film also stars Prakash Raj, Sunil, Atul Kulkarni, Zayn Marie Khan, and Kamakshi Bhaskarla in significant roles, along with others. Helmed by Shaneil Deo, it is produced jointly by Supriya Yarlagadda and Suniel Narang.
Recently, Sesh completed the final schedule of the film when he talked about the same and said, “Wrapping the final schedule of Dacoit feels both surreal and deeply emotional for me. This film has been an intense journey, physically, creatively, and mentally. From writing the first draft to now standing at the edge of completion, every phase has demanded complete honesty and commitment. We just wrapped up the last schedule, and there’s a quiet sense of fulfilment that comes with knowing we’ve given this story everything we had.”
“Dacoit is not just another film for me; it’s a story that has stayed with me through the nights of writing and days of shooting under challenging conditions. As we head toward an its release in March, I feel incredibly grateful to be sharing this moment with the entire team who believed in the vision from day one. There’s a certain responsibility that comes with releasing a film during a festive period – audiences come in with heightened expectations and that pushes us to be even more honest with our work,” the actor added.
