Last season’s runners-up Punjab Kings will take on 2022 champions Gujarat Titans in the fourth game of IPL 2026 on Tuesday. The game between Shreyas Iyer’s Kings and Shubman Gill’s Titans is scheduled to take place at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur.
Having finished in the top four in 2025, both teams will be eager to start on a high and renew their bid for an IPL title.
Since Hardik Pandya’s exit after IPL 2023, Gill has grown into his leadership role and the team now revolves around him.
Gujarat Titans, who claimed the title in their debut 2022 season, have stayed among the league’s most consistent teams, finishing third last year before falling to the Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator.
Gujarat remain one
of the most settled teams, retaining 20 cricketers. Their biggest asset continues to be the opening duo of Gill and Sai Sudharsan, last season’s top scorer with 759 runs.
Sudharsan is returning after a rib fracture but was in fine touch in domestic cricket, including an unbeaten 101 and several half-centuries before the injury.
Gujarat Titans boast promising backups like wicketkeeper-batter Kumar Kushagra as well, who shone in domestic cricket with a strike rate above 160 and an average over 60 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, providing depth if the middle order falters.
Despite his consistent performances, Shreyas continues to be overlooked by the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee, having last played a T20I in December 2023.
