Banks across India will remain closed today, December 25, on account of the Christmas holiday under the RBI holiday calendar.
During bank holiday, customers can continue to access services through net banking, mobile banking, UPI, and ATMs. However, cheque clearing and other over-the-counter services under the Negotiable Instruments Act will not be available.
Stock Market Holiday Today
Indian stock markets are shut today, December 25, 2025, in observance of Christmas. Trading on both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will remain suspended, making it the last market holiday of the year. Several major global markets, including those in the US, the UK and across Europe, are also closed for the holiday.
There will be no trading or settlement activity on the NSE and BSE across equity, equity derivatives and securities lending and borrowing (SLB) segments. In addition, currency and commodity markets will also remain closed on Thursday.
Trading across Indian stock exchanges will resume on Friday, December 26, 2024. The next scheduled market holiday in India will be on January 26, 2025, on account of Republic Day.
