Due to the flood situation affecting around 30 districts in the state, particularly in the Marathwada region, some students requested the postponement of the State Public Service Commission (MPSC) exam
scheduled for September 28. This request has finally been met, and the MPSC exam will now take place on November 9, providing relief to the flood-affected students.
Yesterday, the Maharashtra Public Service Commission issued a circular rejecting the students’ demand to postpone the exam, stating that the State Service Commission exam would be held as per the original schedule. However, the exam has now been postponed, bringing relief to the students. The State Public Service Commission has fulfilled the demands of students and all party leaders.
“To ensure that no candidate is deprived of the opportunity to appear for the examination, the government, based on its letter No. Maloa-1125/Pr. Cr. 236/Maloa, Dated September 26, 2025, requested the Commission to postpone the examination,” the notice stated.
The flood situation has significantly disrupted the lives of thousands of students, severely affecting their studies. Due to transport system disruptions, many students could not reach their examination centres. Consequently, some students demanded the examination be postponed instead of holding it on the scheduled date. Responding to their demands and those of all party leaders, the State Public Service Commission announced the exam’s postponement. Many MPs and MLAs in the state also advocated for delaying the MPSC exam.
When the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, Ministers, and other party leaders visited areas affected by heavy rains to assess the damage, numerous exam candidates requested the exam’s postponement. This recruitment will be conducted across various departments of the Maharashtra state government, covering 385 posts. Approximately 3 lakh students will appear for the preliminary exam on November 9, 2025, at centers in 37 districts of the state. The preliminary exam will see 3 lakh students competing for 385 posts.
