Lilly Singh is coming back to India and this time, she’s not just dropping by; she’s arriving with a full-fledged plan. The creator-comedian-actor, who has always worn her desi roots proudly, is gearing up to shoot the biggest season yet of her podcast Shame Less With Lilly Singh. And if you’re wondering whether she’s sticking only to Bollywood faces this time, the answer is a loud no.
A person familiar with the production confirmed Singh’s plans, saying, “Lilly is coming to India to shoot the new season of her podcast Shame Less With Lilly Singh. Various Indian celebrities from different fields will be filming with Lilly for this season. While the names of the celebrities aren’t disclosed yet, Lilly is planning to expand her roster to a diverse
guestlist and not just Bollywood.” The new season will widen the focus of her show, which has previously hosted actors such as Aditi Rao Hydari, Ananya Panday, Neena Gupta, Bhumi Pednekar and Sidharth Malhotra.
The source added that Singh is expected to arrive early Sunday morning and will begin a tight week-long shoot soon after landing.
Singh’s journey began on YouTube in 2010, where she posted videos under the name “Superwoman.” Her online presence grew rapidly, eventually leading to global recognition, a documentary titled A Trip to Unicorn Island (2016), and her bestselling book How to Be a Bawse (2017). She made history in 2019 when she became the first person of Indian descent to host an American late-night talk show, A Little Late with Lilly Singh, which she led until 2021.
Born in Toronto in 1988 to Punjabi immigrant parents, Singh was raised in a Sikh household and has often spoken about her childhood, education, and early influences. She graduated from York University with a degree in psychology before pursuing content creation full-time.
In 2015, Singh entered Forbes’ list of the World’s Top-Earning YouTube Stars at No. 8. The following year, she climbed to third place on Forbes’ ranking of highest-paid YouTubers, with estimated earnings of $7.5 million. She returned to the list again in 2018, this time at No. 10, earning a reported $10.5 million. As of February 2022, her channel had grown to 14.7 million subscribers and amassed more than three billion views.
