Netflix’s new romantic K drama, Can This Love Be Translated, is drawing attention for its fresh plot and the lead pair’s chemistry. The series follows interpreter Joo Ho-jin (played by Kim Seon-ho), who
can speak four languages but struggles to understand Cha Mu-hee (played by Go Youn-jung).
When they first meet in Japan, both are involved with other people. However, as they travel through different countries and navigate various challenges, their feelings gradually deepen, leading to a slow-burning romance.
Kim Seon-ho, returning to the small screen after three years, recently shared why he chose this project. He said the drama beautifully captures the subtle moments when hearts open, and emotions naturally blossom. He also expressed how special it was to work with Go Youn-jung, noting that their genuine on-screen chemistry brought their characters’ relationship vividly to life.
Kim Seon-ho Talks About Can This Love Be Translated and Chemistry
In an interview with Elle Korea, Kim Seon-ho said, “In the drama, Ho-jin and Mu-hee spend time together in various countries and develop feelings for each other. We’ve all dreamed of that romantic moment when we meet someone while travelling. This drama shows that right before our eyes. It’s that moment when all hearts feel like they’re about to open. I think that’s why I was able to really feel the two characters’ emotions in the drama.”
Opening up about his chemistry with Go Yoon-jung in Can This Love Be Translated, he explained, “I believe chemistry naturally develops when you open your hearts to each other. Fortunately, Go Yoon-jung and I had great chemistry on set and in terms of acting. I focused on making the two of us feel real and tried my best to ‘live’ the scene naturally. Fortunately, I was able to work with such wonderful people, and this was a truly fortunate production for me.”
Kim Seon-ho said that the main message he wants to share is about facing life and emotions honestly. He believes acting is not just about exciting or romantic feelings, but about looking at himself clearly. He tries to recognise his own mistakes and weaknesses, while also appreciating and giving credit to the good things he does.
