A container was sucked into the engine of an Air India A350 aircraft at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in Delhi, causing damage to the jet’s engine on Thursday.
A video, apparently recorded by a passenger on the aircraft, showed the plane parked on the tarmac and surrounded by ground staff.

However, no official statement has been released by Air India yet.
The incident is reported just days after a Mumbai-bound Air India plane had to return to Delhi after it suffered a technical glitch. An issue with one of the engines forced the flight to return to Delhi on December 22 after being airborne
for about an hour.
“The crew operating flight AI887 from Delhi to Mumbai on December 22 decided to return to Delhi shortly after take-off due to a technical issue as per standard operating procedure. The aircraft landed safely at Delhi and the passengers and crew have disembarked,” an airline spokesperson said in a statement.
Following the incident, DGCA issued a statement and said the Air India aircraft was “involved in Airturnback as during flap retraction after take-off, the flight crew observed low engine oil pressure on Engine No. 2 (Right-Hand engine).”
